Maties Palau Ferré expressed
himself through painting, sculpture and ceramics (There’s some forged
iron work too) and in all of them his peculiar personality shows
unmistakeably.
His artwork is characterized by
predominant vivid, intense colours, and a canon of timeless beauty. His art
is figurative in style, expressionist and constructive, with traits from
cubism, fauvism and graphism.
Palau Ferré’s artwork does
transmit attitudes and feelings in a unique, extraordinary way: He has the
gift of being able to create beauty and it is remarkable his very personal
style.
He uses predominantly very
brilliant, vivid colours, both in his oils, Chinese ink paintings and
ceramics. Colours are brought to their maximum expression, from the basic
red, yellow and blue. In his last creative period, the most frequently
used colour has been the red, in all its possible hues and shades: the
colour of fire, blood and life entours his creation and endows it with its
own personality.
Palau
Ferré used to say: “The Colour is part of my painting and my painting is
my life”
